With her profound experience of over 25 years in the catering industry, she stands as the co-owner of Xi’an Impression and the founder of Master Wei Xi’an.

Professional Milestones:

2008:
Bashu Experience: Guirong was chosen to work at Bashu, a renowned London restaurant noted for its fame across Europe, marking her entry into the UK culinary scene.

2015:
Xi’an Impression: Together with her husband, Yong Song, Guirong opened Xi’an Impression in North London, introducing the unique flavours of Shaanxi-style cuisine and significantly boosting its popularity in the city.

2018:
Media Spotlight: Tencent’s “Once Upon a Bite” featured Guirong’s culinary skills at Xi’an Impression.

Food Chain Feature: Guirong Wei was featured prominently in the first two episodes of Timeout’s “Food Chain,” earning additional recognition in the culinary world.

March 2019:
Master Wei Xi’an Cuisine: Guirong launched her new restaurant in Central London, continuing to delight patrons with traditional Shaanxi dishes.

Critical Acclaim: Received positive reviews from leading British newspapers like The TIMES, Eater London, The Independent, and The Guardian. Giles Coren of The Times praised the restaurant as “cheap, quick and far too good to share” (The Times Review). Grace Dent in The Guardian described Master Wei as “an assertive culinary hug” (The Guardian Review).

April 2019: GOLDEN CHOPSTICKS Award: Recognized with a Founder’s Award, celebrating her as the sole female winner in this esteemed UK food and beverage industry competition.

October 2019:
OFM Awards 2019: Master Wei triumphed as the Best Newcomer (OFM Awards 2019)

2022 – 2023:
Continued Recognition: Master Wei was honoured as TimeOut’s Best Restaurant and subsequently as The Best Chinese Restaurant.
